Fantastic mate keep going with thisrenren212 wrote:Hey guys,
Just wanted to post an update on this as most threads I've read either stop half way or never give the end of the situation so hoping to scribe this one through to conclusion for anyone else who finds themselves in a similar situation.
First garage the car went to stopped calling or replying to messages when I asked for a more comprehensive report (they told me 1000x what they wrote on the invoice, which was useless). So I've had the car at an AMG specialist for 6+ weeks to actually compile a report, they all caught corona virus in the middle my car being there, so it's been a bit of a waiting game. I must say although i would have liked a bit more communication the garage have been fantastic and have more than compensated me for the excessive period the car has been with them. Conclusion from them is the car requires a new gearbox (not really a surprise) and they've also noted that they found metal fillings in the oil and tested the oil to find the wrong one had been used. I've sent this report over to the dealer with the repair estimate of ~£6500 and a letter before action. I've also started a S75, as the dealer has previously made it very clear they aren't interested in amicably resolving. Unfortunately for them I'm very principle driven so I'm not going to give up on this.
If all else fails it will have to be the court route but based on the amg specialists findings I'd be quietly confident, which is fine but just not ideal in terms of how long it will take.
Engine, Exhaust, Drivetrain and ECU questions.
