Just remember. Power does not make up for weight.

If they dropped it with similar engine specs but managed to shave a good chunk of weight I’d be happy.

I hate how heavy the 45 is and feels. My MINI, although hardly stock was much faster besides 1/4 mile.

Why don't you think a new A45 with 421bhp isn't going to "worry an RS3 or similar" when they all have less than that?

I love it how the RS3 arguments always come out . That extra 1/2l & cylinder accounts for an ability to extract torque...but it’s a fat bastard & I wouldn’t want to drive one the way I drive my A45.

I love my A45 as a daily that I can throw around but I have my Mini for those times when a track hammering is required

I love mine too and with a map the a45 gets the torque & power it needs thats how it should have been from the factory. Don’t get me wrong guys I am sure the new one will be great but with Cars like the rs3 and m2 comp I just thought mb would have gone further to set them selves apart.
Like I said previously perhaps the performance figures in the real world when it comes out will show that they have.

I would rather they just stuck to making a decent handling car with "sufficient" power.

If highest bhp and fastest (on-paper) 0-62 time was all that mattered to them, they'd ditch the 4matic system and just make it a lighter 2wd car.

But it's balance, agility and traction make it a joy to use in the real world. I couldn't give two hoots if the RS3 had 500 or 600hp, it still ploughs straight on corners the A45 sails round so the only race it's going to win is being first into the ditch.

Well said. 100% agreed

I will say I see both sides of this argument. I come from a high powered fwd 5pot and yes it would kill you, if you got it wrong but if you got it right it was very rewarding drive. The 45 would beat it hands down round the corners and feels light and nimble thus very different and really depends what YOU want the car to do...
