Pads and calliper colour

Took the A45 into the dealer today for a recall (drivers airbag). Asked them to have a quick look at the brake pads. Turns out they are about 90% used. Got a quote and decided to see what other options were available. So I have a few questions and hope you guys can help

- Who makes the OEM Merc pads for an A45. Is it Textar? I see their name printed on the pics of 'genuine pads' on eBay.
- What's with Red Callipers? The Mercedes dealers who have eBay shops keep quote 'for red callipers only' or ' for non-red callipers'. Did the A45 (2014) have brake options?
- whilst there is a lot of talk about preferred pads for other cars or track work on this forum - I could not easily see recommendations for slightly better than OEM pads for daily driving only. Any thoughts?

I’ve mintex pads in the front of mine & they’re good enough for my spirited driving style. Take a look here - https://brakeparts.co.uk/shop/MERCEDES/ ... nd%20Shoes

The calipers were availible in standard grey, or a 300 quid option was to have them in red. On the FL I believe red became a no cost option. The brakes are identical, its just the colour thats different.

The 2016 facelift has red calipers as standard, there was no option.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Makes even less sense why the eBay shop for Mercedes-Newcastle sell rear brake pads with the message "ONLY FOR VEHICLES WITH RED CALIPERS"... :(
